Classic Learning Test (CLT) Preparation Program – Coming Soon

USA Heritage Academy is excited to announce that we are developing a comprehensive preparation program for the Classic Learning Test (CLT), a rigorous alternative to the SAT and ACT that aligns with classical education principles and the Great Books tradition.

What is the CLT?

The Classic Learning Test is a standardized exam designed for students in grades 11 and 12 and is accepted by over 250 colleges, particularly classical, Catholic, and Christian institutions. Unlike other standardized tests, the CLT emphasizes intellectual depth, moral reasoning, and philosophical inquiry, making it an ideal choice for students engaged in classical and liberal arts education.

The exam is taken online and provides same-day results. It consists of 120 questions over 120 minutes, divided into three main sections:

  • Verbal Reasoning – Reading comprehension, literary analysis, and argument evaluation, featuring selections from classical literature and historical texts.
  • Grammar & Writing – Standard grammar, sentence structure, and rhetoric, assessing students’ command of written English.
  • Quantitative Reasoning – Mathematical reasoning, algebra, geometry, and logic, ensuring students develop strong analytical skills.

The CLT features passages from some of the greatest thinkers and writers in Western tradition, including Aristotle, Augustine, C.S. Lewis, Jane Austen, Frederick Douglass, G.K. Chesterton, Shakespeare, Thomas Aquinas, and John Henry Newman.

Our CLT Preparation Program (Coming Soon)

We are in the process of designing a tailored CLT preparation course that will equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel on this exam. Our program will be structured as a standalone course that can be taken alongside any existing curriculum, making it a perfect option for homeschoolers and students at USA Heritage Academy.

Key Features (In Development):

  • A two-year preparation track covering 10th and 11th grade, with an optional extension into 12th grade for deeper mastery.
  • Guided study of the Great Books, reinforcing the intellectual framework necessary for success on the CLT.
  • Critical thinking and essay-writing workshops, ensuring students can articulate ideas with clarity and depth.
  • Mathematical reasoning and problem-solving exercises aligned with the CLT’s unique approach to quantitative reasoning.
  • Practice tests and personalized feedback, allowing students to track their progress and refine their test-taking strategies.

This program is currently in development, and we encourage families to check back soon for updates. Our goal is to provide a challenging yet accessible preparation course that supports students in their pursuit of higher learning grounded in classical education values.
